Green Detox Cucumber Mint Agua (Printable Version)

Chilled cucumber, mint and lime drink, lightly sweetened for hydrating, refreshing detox and quick serving.

# What You'll Need:

→ Vegetables & Herbs

01 - 2 large cucumbers, peeled and coarsely chopped
02 - 1 packed cup fresh mint leaves
03 - 1 small handful fresh cilantro leaves (optional)

→ Citrus

04 - Juice of 2 limes (about 4 tablespoons)

→ Sweetener

05 - 2 tablespoons agave syrup (or honey or maple syrup)

→ Liquids

06 - 4 cups cold filtered water
07 - 1 cup ice cubes, plus additional for serving

→ Garnish

08 - Cucumber slices
09 - Lime wedges
10 - Sprigs of fresh mint

# Directions:

01 - Peel and roughly chop the cucumbers. Measure and lightly pack the mint leaves; if using cilantro, pick the leaves. Juice the limes and set aside.
02 - Place chopped cucumbers, mint, cilantro (if using), lime juice, agave syrup, cold water and 1 cup ice in a high-speed blender. Blend on high until completely smooth, about 45–60 seconds.
03 - Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth set over a large pitcher. Use a spatula to press and extract as much liquid as possible, discarding the remaining pulp.
04 - Taste and, if needed, adjust sweetness with additional syrup or brightness with a splash more lime. Refrigerate briefly until well chilled.
05 - Pour over additional ice in glasses and garnish with cucumber slices, lime wedges and mint sprigs. For a sparkling variation, top each glass with sparkling water just before serving.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It tastes like a spa day in a glass but takes less than 10 minutes to make at home.
  • You can tweak the sweetness or zing right as you blend, making each batch feel custom made for just what you want that day.
02 -
  • If you skip straining, tiny cucumber bits can make the drink oddly chunky—not as bright and sippable.
  • Adding the ice during blending rather than after keeps the whole pitcher extra cold and a little frothy.
03 -
  • Always strain the mixture unless you want a pulpy texture—the smooth finish is worth the extra step.
  • Packing the blender with herbs right before ice preserves their color and fragrance, keeping every batch vibrantly fresh.
